Walking

Walking

There are a number of specifically built walks on lower ground, which require little or no experience. Longer routes and routes up the mountains require proper equipment, experience and preparation. A trained guide can arrange organised walks. www.aviemorewalking.com

Snow Sports

Snowsports

The Cairngorm, the Lecht and Glenshee are all within the National Park. All have qualified instructors and ski schools for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The Cairngorm is only a 15min drive by car and has great skiing across two valley areas. www.ski-glenshee.co.uk

There is also the funicular railway, which operates every day all year round, which takes you to the top of the Cairngorm Mountain where the highest restaurant in the UK is situated. www.lecht.co.uk

Steam Train

Steam Train

The steam train runs from Aviemore, via Boat of Garten and Broomhill to Grantown-on-Spey through spectacular scenery. Broomhill is better known as Glenbogle, home to the TV drama series Monarch of the Glen.www.strathspeyrailway.co.uk

Rothiemurchus Estate

Quad bikes, clay shooting, guided walks, craft shops, fishing, horse riding are all available on the Rothiemurchus Estate. www.rothiemurchus.net

Loch Morlich & Loch Insh

Both of these lochs offer a vast variety of watersports, from canoeing and kayaking to skiing on the dry ski slope at Loch Insh. www.lochinsh.com

Fishing

Bikes

Whisky Trail
