Aviemore Lodge

Posted: under Guest Book.

Great House in great location, 10-15 min walk into Aviemore. Had a great holiday and yet again thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Osprey Centre.  Spent the second week at Feshiebridge, Kincraig, freezing cold water but the kids loved it and so did the dog! Would go back to Aviemore Lodge, the Lesuire Pass was great for my son and parents who golf and the swimming/steam room was great for me!  just a shame the Spa didnt work for all of the second week!

Aviemore-Guest book

Posted: under Guest Book.

We had a lovely 3 night stay in the Heiland Hame. The house was brilliant and I loved having loads of towels to use.The bottle of wine was very welcome as we arrived late having battled through floods in Deeside!Luckily the sun shone during our stay.We twice went to Loch Morlich and the kids loved it.The second time they had their swimming costumes on as they wanted to get totally wet!I wasn’t so brave and preferred to have a nice cup of coffee and biscuit at the shop t-room.The kids also loved Landmark. It wasn’t too busy so no big queues.Mr Chalmers was very helpful especially when we had to rearrange dates due to daughter’s dancing exams! In all everything highly recommended and so much to do in Aviemore so hopefully will be back.

Aviemore Lodge

Posted: under Guest Book.

We enjoyed a fantastic mini break in Aviemore staying at the superbly equiped and comfortable Aviemore Lodge during February mid term 2010. We came for ski-ing and were not disappointed with the best snow conditions at Cairngorm we have ever seen. The snow was 3.50 metres deep on the White Lady and M1 runs and not much less elsewhere. The apres ski was also very good. We would highly recommend a visit to the excellent La Taverna Italian restaurant at the Coylumbridge end of the village. Another evening was spent at the traditional Cairngorm Hotel where the food choice and quality is again superb. If you are looking for somewhere to watch sky sports then the very nearby Dalfaber Country Club provides big screens either end of a comfortable lounge with bar food served until late. All in all a superb holiday destination and Aviemore Lodge a great base. Moir Family Aberdeen. We will be back !!

Posted: under Guest Book.

“The accommodation was fantastic with every ammenity we could need. Neighbours were very friendly and made us feel right at home and the pass to Dalfaber was a fantastic bonus which we enjoyed using every day. Everything about our stay was fantastic and although we have stayed in the Highlands before, we haven’t until now enjoyed a holiday as much. We’ll definitely be back.”

Many thanks

Aviemore Holiday 2009

Posted: under Guest Book.

As frequent visitors to Aviemore we know the area well and have had another fabulous holiday.  This was our first stay in Aviemore Lodge and by our experience of Aviemore self-catering holiday accommodation this is very good.  An unexpected luxury was the changing of all linen for our second week which made up for a couple of little quibbles - we couldn’t get the tumble dryer to work and there was no indoor clother airer.  However, being hardy self-caterers we had taken our own (clother airer that is, not tumble dryer!) which was a blessing as the weather was somewhat variable and we are outdoors in all weather so managed to avoid the clothes drying all over the house scenario.

Lovely warm duvets, well equipped although felt another, larger, pan in the kitchen would have been a bonus - especially if you were trying to cater for more than 4 people.  Great to have a garage to keep the bikes and dirty walking boots in!  Very friendly owners, amenable to telephone queries - thank you.  Will definetely return in the future.

Things to do - apart from walking and biking that is!  Had a fabulous day out at Ballindalloch Castle on Speyside.  Whilst the owners of this castle run a business, they have managed to keep the notion of the property being a family home very much to the fore.

Landmark Heritage Park - good fun for the kids and if you have little ones I recommend an annual pass as you can then visit as many times as you wish for shorter spells rather than trying to do it all in one day.

The Imagination Workshop - new this year.  A craft workshop where you can paint and decopatch papier mache and wooden items.  Great for a wet day with lovely staff who are very willing to help you.  My daughter and I enjoyed a few hours in here on more than one occasion.

Loch Insh - watersport heaven!  Lots to do - sailing, kayaking, river trips, wind surfing.  Good food available in the restaurant overlooking the loch and open to all even if you are not using the facilities.

Thunder in the Glens - a Harley Davidson rally.  Always the last weekend in August I believe and the ride out to Grantown on Spey on the Saturday is amazing.

Cairngorm Mountain Railway - we tend to avoid this as we would rather walk up the mountain but the views are spectacular if you are not one for going high under your own steam.

Cairngorm Reindeer Centre - coming across reindeer on the hills is slightly disconcerting until you discover the Centre.

Eating out - lots to choose from - for lunch we enjoy the Mountain Cafe opposite the Police station - also does good breakfasts; Glenmore Visitor Centre (also good for environmental information on the area) and Ord Ban at the Rothiemurchus Centre.  Dinner for families - Ski-ing Doo; Cairngorm Hotel; Roo’s Leap; Happy Haggis fish supper take away.

Self Catering Aviemore

Hi Peter

I would like to thank you for a great holiday at Heiland Hame.

The house was spotlessly clean and with all the facilities we could ask for. The membership at Dalfaber G+CC was the icing on the cake for us.

Aviemore was a great base to walk and drive out from and we did something every day, including visits to Inverness, Rogie Falls, Glen Affric and Fort William.

The highlight was climbing Cairn Gorm on the last day, which gave us magnificent views as well as a sense of achievement in reaching the summit.

The weather was so bad on Thursday that we decided to start our two day journey home in the afternoon instead of Friday as we originally intended. We arrived home on Friday evening (after a 600 + mile drive), very tired but entirely relaxed and satisfied after a great holiday.

Thanks again for a marvellous holiday.

Best regards,

Allan

Heiland Hame-Self Catering Aviemore

18th - 25th July 2009, Heiland Hame

“We had a great week and this first class cottage - extremely comfortable and well equipped, furnished to a high standard - lovely new bathroom!  The playstation 2 in the small bedroom was very welcome for my 7 year old son.  We found loads of great activities on our doorstep - visited Landmark at Carrbridge twice, sailing at Loch Morlich and Loch Inch, went on the Steam railway, enjoyed grass sledging and soft play up at the MacDonald Highland Resort and the swimming pool at Dalfaber was excellent - we really appreciated the leisure passes included in the cost of the holiday. On our last day we visited the Highland Folk museum and this was very interesting - and free.  We would love to come back to Aviemore for a holiday and can highly recommend this accommodation,”

Aviemore Lodge

My wife and I and the 3 children had a great holiday staying at Aviemore Lodge, the house is excellent for a large family. Plenty to do nearby cycling, visit to Landmark, steam train, loch Insh water sports worth a visit and if brave enough swimming in the Loch after canoeing. Would recommend to others and definately return for another holiday.
